In this report by Richard Scott '' Transport correspondent, BBC News '' , he mintioned about cable theft which 'caused over 6,000 hours of train delays' . He transfered on '' Network Rail '' which say '' the number of theft incidents in the 2010-11 financial year jumped by 52% to 995'' .
The couse for stealing the cable is to sell it to unscrupulous scrap yards, becouse it has high price of copper .
As a result, Northern, had 1,435 trains cancelled last year and had 983 hours of delays for passengers .
So The Association of Train Operating Companies can't protect every single kilometer ''
"So we try to put various tactical measures in various locations to try to apprehend them and prevent cable theft and

The police descovered that the causeof thefts is to fund drug or alcohol habits  rather than by organised crime.  So The British Transport Police thinks the issue is their second highest priority, after terrorism .

  1. Hi Turki. I never knew that this was such a big issue. Interesting choice of text to write about.

This is quite a good attempt at writing a summary, especially at the beginning, where you make it very clear where this information comes from. The second half relies a little too heavily on the source text for language. Some of your sentences are very similar to the BBC report. For your blog, it would be much better if you try to write from the point of view of what you found interesting or surprising about the article. This way, you can be sure that you are using your own words and ideas in your writing.

Try to find another article now, and write about what YOU find interesting, surprising, or worrying about it.

  2. Hi Turki. Cable theft has been a really serious problem in Taiwan. It is, however, surprising to know that this kind of crime also occurs in Britain.

As we discussed in class, a summary should cover only the main points of the text. Imagine that you are going to tell me what you have read verbally. You would probably not be able to tell me the story word by word, but only the key information. What do you think?
